How do I handle binges? I realize that it's only for a short period of time, that it's a temporary detour on my journey called life. It won't last forever. I need a break, a pause, before I can resume normalcy.

Sometimes, binges come from emotional alterations. I usually feel more binge-y when that time of the month approaches. And I usually binge more late at night. How I fix the first? I don't. That is just an unfortunate factor of life. How I fix the later? Lots of hot green tea with lemon, or I go to bed earlier :)

You've got this! Don't focus on the scale so much right now but on yourself.

When I loose it (because I do) I just recommit the next moment. Drink a ton of water, and a killer workout. Thankfully ever since my gallbladder surgery, I haven't been able to eat very fatty meats, so that cuts some of it out. I haven't eaten bacon in nearly 4 years. (Crazy)

Acknowledge the past, accept it and move on. It's all we can do (in regards to your weight loss journey).

In regards to your poor cat, I'm truly sorry for the loss, As I said on twitter, I cried like a baby when I had to put my cat, Muffin down. She lived with my parents before I was born, so I grew up with her. And when I was a sophomore in high school, my dad had me make the decision to put her down, she was old and wasn't eating :-( Ugh, broke my heart.

Your goals for the week sound do-able! you can do it!

I have to be honest, tracking food is my pitfall. I don't do it. I'd know I would see better results if I did track food. I think it's going to be one of my goals for July. Lately I've been more focused on eating till satisfied rather than tracking. I'm a bad WW person. Keep up the great work with your tracking! You are an inspiration for me to re-start tracking!

What I do for eating out? Order family style and split with people! America's portions are RIDICULOUS and normally, I find myself super stuffed and having an achy tummy after I finish eating. Splitting with people and sharing allows me to try a bunch of different things, so I get to play around with my palette while not getting bored of my one dish. PLUS, when you split things, everyone usually finishes the dish, and because I try to be polite, I don't devour the entire thing and it's a win win situation. I'm learning how to share!

I do go for soup, but I usually ask how big the cup/bowl is. Sometimes the cup is big enough. Other times, I go for the bowl but I'm usually full before it's finished.

I also eat slower when I'm out. I'm more conscious about food shoveling because I know that will only lead to over eating and my tummy feeling like crap.

BUT, I do thoroughly enjoy every bite while eating out. I don't feel guilty about eating french fries because really, I didn't eat that many of them and they're freaking delicious. I'm over beating myself up about food. It didn't work, so I'm trying to learn to love myself and my choices.

You know, in this case, I just kind of make an estimate. Though I am on Weight Watchers so I think it's easier to come up with a point value rather than a calorie value. It's hard with the unknowns so you just have to honestly guess at what sort of value it has for you.

The thing is, this is just part of life and somehow we have to learn how these things fit into it. We're always going to have a friend make us a meal or a birthday party or spontaneous meetups with friends that involve food or drink. Being aware and moderate in these cases seem to do the trick for me.

Great reminder Amber!

Sadly this does not work very well here in the Netherlands. The concept of taking half of your meal with you hasn't really sunk in. 15 years ago there was absolutely zero chance of a doggie-bag; now it's more possible in the bigger cities. Where I live they still sort of look at you like you have two heads when you ask to take the rest of your meal with you.

So, to boil it down even more basically - limit going out to eat, period! When you do go out, prepare by filling up a bit with veggies or fruit so that you are not starving when you get to the restaurant. Don't eat the bread and butter or chips and salsa or whatever that comes to the table before you have made your choice. Opt for a salad or veggies instead of fries. Choose grilled or baked over anything fried. And, totally agree with you... stay away from the fluffy foo foo drinks! Better to have 2 or 3 glasses of wine than 2 or 3 fluffy cocktails!

I always try to get a workout in the day I'm going out to dinner as well, or at least the next day. And I plan for the next day too to be a basic back-on-track day. Most importantly, enjoying the night out without guilt is really important. That's also why I limit my going out evenings, so that I just enjoy it and don't worry too much about what sort of damage I'm doing.
